Three Program Tracks

Destination 2007 will continue to offer 3 options to faculty participants.

            Program One:  Learning Communities

Learning Communities (LC) is construed as broader than the LinC course format to ensure that campus-based plans to implement LCs for AtD go forward.   AtD Director Julie Phelps will be helping to coordinate the overall Learning Communities project.  [Destination 2005 emphasized LinC courses, click here to see some of that work.]

Program  Two:  Team Action Research Projects

This program will follow much the same path as the Outcomes/Assessment track of recent years.  Faculty teaching the same course will be encouraged to apply as a team.  The Action Research process will be highlighted as a means to ensure systematic assessment of learning by the participants. This is also a way to help develop a pool of skilled faculty who may be interested in participating in the COPPER program in future years.  [To see some projects from Destination 2005 click here.]

Program Three:  COPPER Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

COPPER will recruit an interdisciplinary group of faculty to revise and extend their existing action research projects to reach a broader community of scholars through writing, publishing and presenting.  We are especially interested in recruiting TLA faculty, both the current candidates and recent alumni, to support a continuation of their Action Research projects. Resource Pages from Destination 2006 are available here.

As with previous years, a stipend of $500.00 will be paid to faculty who complete the  Summer design phase and a second stipend of $500.00 will be paid to faculty who collect and analyze the assessment data at the end of Fall term.

Program Partners

Destination will continue to partner with the LET by employing the tools developed there to assess student core competencies of THINK and COMMUNICATE (if available in time).  A new partnership has been formed with the Achieving the Dream (AtD) project to help faculty design projects consistent with campus plans to meet AtD goals, and a deeper partnership with Student Success will be evident in the Learning Communities track as well.
