The purpose of the Academic Policy Cluster Review is to establish standards of practice at Valencia Community College. It is not the intention of this work to address and solve specific problems existing at the college but to take a holistic look at all of our policies and revise/create statements that reflect the learning centered nature of our work. The following proposed structure and resulting policies will be developed by teams of faculty with other college groups and will receive significant faculty review before moving to the President and Board of Trustees.

A kick-off meeting will be held in January with members of all teams to address scope of work and methods for accomplishing policy review. Teams will be encouraged to research policies at other institutions and to review all current policies through a learning-centered lens. In addition, if policies do not exist, teams will be encouraged to identify needed policies and begin crafting policy statements in these areas.

Groups will be asked to report back to the Faculty Council periodically through the review process and to complete the first phase of the work by the end of March. When the policy groups have been reviewed and revised, all faculty will be invited to read, review and comment on the proposed policy revisions. Policy revisions will then be taken to the President and Board of Trustees.
